29 Faces... #25

Day 25:
Mini Abstract Angel
(4x4 on Artist's Canvas)

This is the finished piece from the Work in Progress on Day 21's Face.
Well... Mostly finished :)
Still have to seal and add a touch of glitter to all that grunge.
;)

Let Your Dream Take Flight

One of my other passions is digital manipulation and photographic art. But I don't enjoy the business side of graphic design all that much. So in order to satisfy my own desire to create magical images that hopefully inspire, I am going to share my images here with you. If you like them, and wish to use them on your facebook pages or blogs, that's fine. It would be nice to get a link back.

Only the graphic images offered in these "Freebie" posts are free. All of my artwork and photography is copyrighted, and what I'm trying to make a living on :) Thank you.

Here's a Facebook Timeline Cover I created.
Free to use! Just click on it to get the full size. Then right click and "save picture as". That's it!

Hope you like it...

29 Faces... #24

Day 24:
Graphite Sketch
"Baby Boy"

I typically draw little girls, but for some reason was moved to sketch a sweet baby boy this morning.
Hmmmm... later this afternoon, one of my best friends announced that she and her husband are expecting another baby. They are the proud parents of three wonderful boys. Makes a gal wonder...
(Though I must confess... I, personally, am rooting for a girl!!!)

Day 21:

"4x4 Angel in Turquois and Orange"

Still a work in progress...
Charcoal was too heavy to get fine lines in this tiny one.
Trying with graphite.

29 Faces... #20

Day 20:
Graphite on Paper w/Digital Enhancement
"Frida From Memory"

Ok, Ok... Last one!
After all the Fridas I've been looking at and sketching this past week,
I wanted to just sit and draw her without a reference photo.
Not even close! LOL...
But she is a fun subject, even if the imagination does stray from the reality :)

29 Faces... #19

Day 19:
Sketchbook Fun:
"Little Frida"

To be honest, I'm too tired to figure out the dates, but I think photography may not have been widely in use when Frida was born. I can't find any photographs of her as a child online. My imagination and whimsy got the best of me, and I started to play. I took the basic form I use for my childrens faces, and "Frida-ized" it! Guess a lot of us have had Frida on the brain this week with the Frida Challenge going on. I've seen a lot of 29 Faces participants there as well!
Fun, Fun, Fun

LOVE all my artsy friends to BITS!!!

29 Faces... #15

Day 15:
Sketchbook exercise:
Stylized Gal:
Although I've never been driven to draw or paint realistic portraits, I do tend to get caught up in things being "even", "pretty", "more real"... etc. I've been trying to just have fun, and let the sketch evolve into whatever it's supposed to be. I wanted this gal to have different sized eyes, at different heights on her face. Ya. See what I mean? If this is my "crazy", I've got a lot of work to do... LOL
But, in all fairness, I also set an alarm to get her done fast. And this "is" what evolved, so I really can't complain.

I almost didn't post this gal. I guess it's not a piece I'm particularly "proud" of, if you know what I mean. But then I thought... it's what came from my heart, through my hands, and onto the sketchbook page. Is she less worthy than other gals I've sketched, just because she's not as pretty? How petty of me ;) Somehow she looked at me with an expression that said, "Great. I'm not even imperfect enough for you."

And when you get "that look" from your artwork, you just have to make up for your shallow attitude ;)

So, there she is... My less than imperfect, imperfect 3/4 profile.

29 Faces... #11

Day 11:
"Keziah"
Charcoal and paint over an abstract background.

I wanted to do one of my Abstract/Charcoal portraits on a lighter... more pastel-colored background. And as I worked on this one, it just was a naturaly step to add more colorful details to her face as well. (I usually don't add more colors to the drawn face). From the first strokes of the charcoal, this gal had a sweet disposition, and I just love her. Can't wait til she is done!

29 Faces... #10

Day 10:
Work In Progress
Charcoal on Abstract

Sometimes, they just give you trouble...
I've done, and redone this little face about half a dozen times.
This is a tiny canvas... 4x4.
The abstract background is very textured.
The charcoal doesn't want to cooperate with tiny details.
I'll work on a larger one tomorrow, and try to revisit this one.

29 Faces... #9... Almost.

Day 9
Where the heck's the face?
She'll be here.
Soon.
I promise.
(Scroll to bottom to see face #9!!!)

You see... technology doesn't like me today.
In fact... I'm betting this post doesn't work either.
But still.
It makes me feel better just writing about it.
;)

First of all... I'm feeling a little under the weather. I tried to work on a mini painting, but ick... just too shakey and out of it. So, I figured I'd do some sketching in my journal. Great. Cute lil' urchin appeared on the page, and I go to take a picture. Batteries are dead. Not just a little dead where you can trick the camera by turning it off, then on again. Nope. Dead dead.

No problem. I've got my nifty new smart phone! I've taken some decent pics on that little baby, and sent them to facebook, my email, etc. Set it up. Take the shot. Send off the email.

No email.

Ok.

Again.

Nope.

Nada.

Not
gonna
happen.

G-R-E-A-T...

So tomorrow, in the light of a new day, I will try to take a photo of my little sketch and welcome her to Day 9 status.

But for tonight I will pull a blanket up over my aching body, curl up with hubby, and watch an episode of Dr. Who. Yes. The Doctor always makes me feel better. ;)

Nighty-Night my lovely blogland friends xoxo

Edited 5/10/12 After turning my cellpone off... then on... and resending a new email with the pics. Of course, all 20 emails I tried last night flooded in as well :D

And finally...
Day 9:
Ragamuffin Sketch
Graphite on Paper

Now, on to day 10...

Day 5:
Abstract Angel
Charcoal over Abstract Painted Background
I'm quite in love with this one.
I suppose they may all look so similar, yet
there's just something about an expression sometimes...
And this angel does have a touch of that "ragamuffin" I love :)

29 Faces... #4

Day 4:
Abstract Ragamuffin
Charcoal over Abstract Background
My 6 year old asked me if she could keep this one.
Funny... I thought the vivid colors made it a little more harsh than the others.
But... she loves it. So, it's hers :)
